TopTenREVIEWS - Bronze Award - Awarded for excellence in design, useability and feature set

Another impressive business VoIP provider is Vonage, the winner of our TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award and the next competitor on our lineup of the best business VoIP services. With unlimited minutes included in their robust service plan, every calling feature we looked for in our review and great customer support, Vonage rises to the upper reaches of our comparison. Even though Vonage appears to be primarily a consumer-grade VoIP service, we were impressed by the number of features that this company offers in their business VoIP plans. We’re happy to recommend Vonage to you for your VoIP needs.

Established in 2001, Vonage is a leading communication services provider that specializes in broadband connection technology. They use this knowledge and experience to create one of the best business VoIP systems currently available. They are headquartered in New Jersey, but their services are available worldwide. You can purchase a plan online or through a selection of physical stores, including Wal-Mart and several smaller telecommunications stores.

Vonage ended up near the top of our lineup largely due to their immaculate feature set; they have every calling and call-management feature that we looked for in our comparison, including an online manager, conference calling, a virtual phone number and even a mobile application. Their service plan was also impressive; they provide everything you could want in a service plan except unlimited extensions. You will find that the interface of their management system is intuitive and simple, and their customer support is very helpful. All of these things helped bring Vonage into the top portion of our business VoIP lineup.

Vonage’s business VoIP calling plans place it alongside some of the most competitive providers in the market. Vonage offers unlimited minutes, so you’ll be able to call from any number of lines as often and for as long as you need to. This feature is limited to their premium plan, however, and you can only use 1500 minutes per month on the basic plan. Unfortunately, they don’t offer unlimited extensions along with their unlimited minutes in the premium plan. You will still be able to add more extensions, but the lack of unlimited extensions restricts your flexibility somewhat.

All in-network calls are free, and you can keep your original number if you’re switching from a standard analog system to their business VoIP plan. With this feature, you won’t have to completely change out your existing system; you can keep your main phone numbers without the need to exchange them for virtual numbers.

Vonage fits every calling feature we looked for in one convenient package, and all of these features are available in both the basic and premium plans. This business VoIP provider is one of only two services that provide every call and management feature we looked for, giving Vonage a perfect score in this category.

Conference calling is a standard feature with Vonage’s business VoIP plans, but it is limited to only three participants. This is a fairly common limitation with VoIP services, but it does restrict the plan’s flexibility. You may find that you need to use other methods of communication for large conferences, but the three-way calling capabilities that Vonage provides are usually sufficient.

If you’re looking for call-center-friendly features, Vonage provides plenty that help you manage your resources and calls effectively. You can place callers in a call queue if no representative is available to answer the call, and you can also transfer calls after they’ve been connected with Vonage’s call transfer features. You’ll have everything you need to run an effective call center with this business VoIP provider.

You can assign virtual phone numbers to computers with this service, allowing you to call them over the internet without requiring a physical phone to receive the call. This requires “softphone” technology. A softphone is a phone application that resides on your computer and allows you make calls between computers. If you’re looking to cut down on costs by removing the phones themselves, this is a great feature.
